Common Terms used in Badminton

Backcourt - The back part of a badminton court..

Center position - Also known as the base position, the central area of the court where ideally a singles player wants to return after each shot.

Clear - A shot hit deep in the back of the opponent's court.

Double hit - Hitting the shuttle twice that is considered a violation or fault.

Fault -A violation or infraction of the rules.

Kill - A hard, downward shot that is not returnable by the opponent.

Smash - A hard, powerful overhead shot sending the shuttlecock downward to the opponent's side.

Rules

1. The game is commonly starts with a coin toss wherein the winner decides who to serve and receive.

2. The pla should not touch the net whether its part of their body or their racquet.

3. A serve must be come cross court for it to be in play.

4. A point is awarded to the player after the shuttlecock touched the floor to the opposing court.

5. Each side can strike the shuttlecock only once before it passes over the net. Once hit, a player can't strike the shuttlecock in a new movement or shot.
